1. Picks are due by Jan. 25, 2009.
2. The rules are simple: Choose 20 people whom you think will die in the next 12 months. They must appear on http://www.nndb.com in order to confirm their celebrity status. As celebrities die, you earn points. Your 20th pick is worth 20 points and your 1st pick is worth 1 point. Hence, you want the picks that you are more confident will die to come towards the end of your list because they are worth more points. The maximum number of points achievable is 210.

3. A death must be confirmed by name by the Associated Press or Reuters, so stick to celebrities and other high profile individuals.
4. You are responsible for your own picks. If your pick is already dead, an illegal/ineligible pick, or if he/she doesn't make the headlines, you will not be allowed to make a substitution unless it's still prior to Jan. 25 of game year.
5. An illegal or ineligible pick shall be defined by the following:
a) Each roster may only have one each of a particular person. If a duplicate dies, the roster will only be awarded once for the death.
b) You may not personally have any hand in your picks’ deaths. Murder or murder for hire is strictly forbidden. Similarly, you may not murder or be responsible for the death of any of your fellow players. That is not cool, man.
c) You may not pick anyone incarcerated and sentenced to death prior to your choosing of them. (Your pick is eligible if you pick him/her before sentencing, and that death sentencing is carried out after Jan.26, 2009.) Additionally, full credit shall be given to an incarcerated individual if that person commits suicide, is murdered, or dies of natural causes.
d) A pick does not count if the celebrity "dies" on the operating table, only to be revived. Death is defined as permanent. Transient deathlike states need not apply.
6. The player with the most points by 12:00 midnight, Januray 25, 2009 will be declared the winner.
7. In the event of a tie, the following criteria will be used to select a winner amongst the tied teams; total number of deaths predicted, if teams are still tied, youngest person on team to die. If a tie persists, then Co-winners will be declared.
8. The Dead Pool administrator shall not be held responsible for any errors in the awarding of prizes.
No refunds for entry fees will be offered. May God have mercy on your soul.
